From the onset of the pandemic, the spread of Covid-19 has had tragic consequences for the elderly around the world. This Machik Kora focused on the Tibetan elderly in this time of crisis and how Tibetan elder care has been adapting to the changing circumstances.
We welcomed guest speakers Geshe Tenley, Nyima Dolkar, Pasang Lhamo and Tenzin Wangmo, all working during the pandemic with the Tibetan elderly in both traditional and innovative ways. To our great surprise and enjoyment, we listened to Ama Lhakdon la, grandmother of Tenzin Wangmo speak about the importance of cultivating intergenerational connections in the Tibetan community. We could not have been more grateful for Ama Lhakdon la’s wisdom, drawing on a lifetime of experiences growing up in Kyirong, Tibet, and later as a Tibetan refugee in the Mundgod settlement in South India. How marvelous to do this Machik Kora together🙏🏽🌹✨ This Kora was primarily conducted in Tibetan. |
