On Saturday, March 16th, at 10am EST or 7.30pm IST, a special Machik Kora was held to raise awareness of gender-based violence in Tibetan communities. Led by longtime Tibetan voices of conscience and defenders of victims against sexual assault and gender-based violence, the Kora served as a global town hall for Tibetan community members everywhere to share their experiences and perspectives on this urgent issue. Tibetan participants from India were especially welcomed as the Kora focused on the recent tragic sexual assault of a minor in a Tibetan settlement. Participants were invited to join the discussion by RSVPing beforehand.
The Machik Kora achieved its goal of raising awareness and fostering dialogue on gender-based violence in Tibetan communities, providing a platform for collective reflection and action towards creating safer and more supportive environments for all. |
